Biology and Biomodeling

We don’t just study biology from books — we immerse ourselves in the living world! Our lessons take place in nature, forests, parks, beaches, reserves, and museums, where we observe, investigate, experiment, and sketch our discoveries.
Each lesson is a small scientific investigation. We start with a lecture and discussion, pose a key question or task, and then find answers through practical work, observations, and drawings.

WHAT WE DO IN LESSONS:

Exploring nature through science:
  • Examine sand grains, plant cells, algae from water samples, and compare micro-worlds of different ecosystems.
  • Take microphotographs of insects, leaves, butterfly wings to reveal amazing details invisible to the naked eye.
  • Analyze soil and water using chemical tests, determine acidity, mineral content, and search for microorganisms.
  • Conduct biology and chemistry experiments, studying the effects of temperature, light, and other factors on the growth and behavior of living organisms.

Field research and animal observations:
  • Visit reserves and natural zones, observe turtles, track their behavior, and study how they adapt to ocean life.
  • In deserts and on beaches, analyze adaptations of animals and plants to extreme conditions.
  • Study the behavior of insects, birds, and lizards, recording patterns in their movements and reactions.
  • Draw anatomical and botanical illustrations, learning to visually record observations.
  • Make sketches of animals, plants, and microscopic objects, noticing details often missed in casual observation.
  • Create ecosystem diagrams, evolutionary processes, and anatomical structures to better understand connections.
  • Keep field journals with sketches, as naturalist scientists do when studying nature.

Creating scientific models and simulations:
  • Biomodel ecosystems, exploring how environmental changes affect nature’s balance.
  • Simulate evolutionary processes and population development.
  • Program biological models to predict organism behavior under different conditions.

Museum research and scientific debates:
  • Visit museums, study the history of evolution, anatomy, and paleontology, and explore the connection between ancient and modern species.
  • Discuss and analyze hypotheses: How did life evolve? Why did dinosaurs go extinct? Could a mammoth be cloned?

Teacher
Lead Instructor
Theo is the lead teacher of mathematics and natural sciences, a science educator and mentor, and—of course—the smartest capybara in the room.
A graduate of the Physics Department at Moscow State University (MSU), he also studied pedagogy at Harvard University. For over ten years, he has been helping children and adults understand and develop a love for mathematics, physics, astronomy, and biology.
He prepares students for olympiads and exams at top universities worldwide, inspires discoveries, and believes that education should be a living adventure.
It is important to him that students feel confident and are not afraid to make mistakes. He always provides support and shows how science connects to real life, explaining complex concepts in an accessible and engaging way.
He loves science, music, and travel.
